Public Service Announcement For Americans Abroad

Ah, September.  The kids are back in school, the nights are cooling down, and we’re settling into the final stretch of the most exciting, contentious presidential campaign in modern American history.

Now is the time to think ahead to Election Day, November 4, 2008.

If you think there might be even a remote chance you will not be near your voting station on that day – and not necessarily overseas, I mean if you might be away on business, and won’t be able to get home in time, or if you’re attending school in another state – it’s important you vote by absentee ballot.  Because frankly, this is going to be a close race, and every vote WILL count.

Following are some links to help you vote in the upcoming presidential election.

  1. I have had to vote absentee for some years now (I live in a precinct with fewer than 250 registered voters; in California, the County Clerk can decree that all such persons must vote absentee).

BUT: If you are going to vote absentee, YOU MUST REQUEST YOUR BALLOT FROM YOUR COUNTY/MUNICIPALITY ELECTORAL DEPARTMENT. DO NOT DEPEND ON SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT FOR YOU. (Sorry about the shouting – but – )

The McCain campaign totally fucked up when they allegedly registered voters:

    This is WAY scary.
